Wedding Crafts

It's been a long time since we posted anything, but we have been really busy over the past year putting our crafting skills to the test for Gemma's wedding!  Here's what we did:

Buttonholes

For my husband and his groomsmen, I made buttonhole flowers using the same origami technique as my own flowers, using comic book paper.  Comic books are one of his passions, so we attached lego superheroes to the stem of the buttonholes to finish them off.

Our two sons (3 years and 10 months) wore outfits to match their dad, but I decided to make them origami stars using the comic book paper, as these were a little more durable! :)

Shoes

I spent ages looking for the perfect pair of shoes, and never came across them, so I decided to just make them myself!  I started with an old pair of work shoes which I never wear any more (so at least I knew I would be comfortable!), and painted them with a cream chalk paint.  You would never guess from looking at them that they were originally a tan brown colour!  I then applied several coats of glitter to the heel using pva glue and a glitter heart on the back above the heel.  I coated the whole shoe with a shimmer varnish spray to make them shiny and more hardwearing, and one final coat of glitter to freshen it up.  I then attached glittered butterflies to the toes.  Perfect shoes for hardly any cost at all!
