Free machining

Free machining on my rose fabric paper.

I decided to use white thread, so when I added any further colour( paint, wax crayon not sure which yet!) the thread would pick up the different colours.

This is the reverse side of the fabric paper I added a piece of linen for stability.

Really enjoyed the free machining.

I then used acrylic paint and water colour paint to add some colour.

Love the colours and the white thread has picked up the paint really well.
Still think it needs a little something!!

More paper fabric

Decided to make some paper fabric using rose petals

I covered the wet tissue paper with thread, rose petals, ribbon and leaves.

After layering the paper with thread, ribbon, rose petals and leaves I covered the final layer of tissue paper with glue.

This is the dried paper, the plan is to machine and hand stitch to add further texture.

Paper fabric

Found an interesting book at the library, Strands by Jacqueline Myers-Cho, creating unexpected fabrics. Decided to try making some paper fabric following her instructions.

I covered white tissue paper with watered down glue.

While the paper was still wet I covered it with thread and lavendar flowers. This added texture and stability to the paper.

I applied another layer of tissue paper to sandwich the threads together and covered the paper with another layer of glue.

I added some paper Gemma had saved from her holiday in Greece.

As it was a lovely day I dried the paper outside.

This is the finished paper - looks great!
